QIGONG FORMS FOR AUTUMN

Clearly, I love the season and the Chinese medicine approach to the Autumn season: metal element, the lungs and large intestine, entering a contractive state of while remembering expansion, the white tiger, the PO realm of the psyche, inspiration, letting go.

This first video shows the forms we practiced recently, including those nurturing the metal element, the lungs, the large intestine. We practiced tiger forms, and learned how to chuff.

We also practiced forms using bamboo sticks to wake up the Lung and Large Intestine Meridians. These are variations of a longer set as taught by the Chinese Health Qigong Association, Taiji Stick Qigong or Taiji Yangsheng Zhang. The origins of these forms are ancient, as depicted in the picture below from the Pictures of Daoyin Exercises.

The Yangsheng Zhang forms conjure images of rowing a boat, diving deep into the water, towing a boat...

And a meditation that I wrote taking us to a Fall setting, meeting a white tiger, exploring memories by holding precious metals of varying colors. Then, climbing up a hill to watch the sun set over the western horizon of Autumn. Sadly, we didn't have time to practice the meditation.

May you find bliss as you slow down with the seasons

Chuff and go play in the leaves!
